Before the series was published in Weekly Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi tested My Hero Academia ideas in a One-Shot that was published within Akamaru Jump in Winter 2008. On January 26, 2015, Viz Media announced that starting on February 9, 2015 of that year, they would officially translate the series into English for release in Viz Shonen Jump. On August 7, 2018, My Hero Academia had sold a total of 16 million copies. December 4, 2018 brought another reprint of Volumes 1-20 bringing 18 million more copies into circulation.








Toshinori Yagi, more commonly known by his hero name, All Might, is the tritagonist of My Hero Academia. All Might is the former No. 1 Hero who bore the title of the world's Symbol of Peace. He teaches Foundational Hero Studies at U.A. High School.





Midoriya Izuku, also known as Deku, is the primary protagonist of the My Hero Academia manga and anime series. Though born without a Quirk, Izuku manages to catch the attention of the legendary hero All Might due to his innate heroism and has since become his close pupil as well as a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School. All Might passed on his Quirk to Izuku, making him the ninth holder of One For All.





The Shie Hassaikai Arc is the eleventh story arc in My Hero Academia and the second story arc in the Rise of Villains Saga. It is currently the longest arc in the series, both in publication duration (lasting from January to December 2017), as well as amount of chapters. The students of Class 1-A learn about Hero Work-Studies, which consists of being mentored by a real Hero where real experience can be gained. During his Work-Study, Izuku Midoriya, alongside the three best hero students at U.A., faces off against the Yakuza group, Shie Hassaikai. The heroes must stop them from creating Quirk damaging drugs, and save the little girl whose blood they're using to make the drugs.





Mirio Togata, also known by his hero name Lemillion, is a student in Class 3-B at U.A. High School and is part of The Big 3. Before Izuku Midoriya, Mirio was the top candidate for All Might's successor and inheritor of One For All.





Katsuki Bakugo, also known as Kacchan by his childhood friends, is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, training to become a Pro Hero. He is the deuteragonist of the series.
